Sheriffside Excavation, Scotland

A major phase of archaeological evaluation was undertaken at Sheriffside cropmark enclosure, near Gifford, East Lothian.  The massive enclose was completely hidden from view, and only visible from cropmarks.  Large trenches were opened to investigate a series of banks, ditches and palisades that encircled the hill for over 1200 years.  Placing the site into landscape context was essential.
